Featured Route of the Month - September 2010

Durdle Door Loop (6.26 miles - Cross Country)
Durdle Door
Durdle Door

This is another off-road route in a justifiably popular tourist area.  However, the route avoids the most crowded paths from Lulworth Cove and has spectacular views throughout.   There is a reasonably gentle first half along grassy footpaths and downs, followed by a roller coaster run up and down next to the cliffs.  Be aware that this is not for anyone who suffers from vertigo and extra care must be taken.

Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch near Lulworth Cove in Dorset.  This rock arch in the sea was formed as a result of the softer rocks being eroded away behind the hard limestones, allowing the sea to punch through them.  Lulworth Cove is also a lovely place to visit and there is a pretty coastal village with all the usual shops and refreshements.
