Useful Tips

We thought it would be useful to have a page on the website where you can go to get Tips on how to get the most out of the GoodRunGuide service. Here are a few for starters - we will be ading to this over time.

Full Screen Fly-Through If you double click on the Fly-Through video you will be able to see it in Full Screen mode.

Choose Your Default Map You can change the default map loaded when using the Route Measurer or searching for a Training Route. To do this click on the button in the bottom left hand corner of the Route Measurer page.

Log your old PB's If you've run a faster time in the past for a Route than you are currently logging in your Log Book, why not add this to your Log Book as well. You are not restricted to adding recent runs to your Log Book.

Check your Age-Graded % If you want to see how your running performance compares with somone else of a different age, you can calculate an Age-Graded % on any route on GoodRunGuide, including your own saved routes. The Age-Graded % factors out age and distance allowing you to compare two runners of different ages running differents routes. Why not challenge a friend?

Poor Satellite Imagery on Route Planner? If the quality of the satellite imagery in the area you are looking at on the Route Planner is not very good switch to the Street Map view by clicking the Map button on the map..

Cross-Training Record your time and distance for any cross-training you do in the notes so that it doesn't result in inaccurate statistics for your running.

Use Internet Explorer 7 If you are using Internet Explorer and have not upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 run Windows Update and get the latest version for free. There are a number of useful improvements in the latest version.

Finding you way on a GoodRunGuide Training Route GoodRunGuide training Routes usually come with detailed instructions that tell you where the turnings are. You can customise these to your running pace so that you know roughly when the next turning is coming up. We recommend taking the map as well though if you are trying out a new routes so that you have all the information in case you need it.

Check out the Hills Have a look at the Hill Profile of a Route before you run it so that you can plan your run accordingly. If its a new run, once you've measured it on the Route Measurer you can save it and then look at the Hill Profile.

Are you a Race Organiser? If you are a GoodRunGuide Member and are organising a Race then let us know and we will include it on our list of Featured Races.

Zoom while Measuring Did you know that you can still use the Zoom controls on the Map while you are measuring a route. You can also switch between Satellite and Map views if it helps to check that you are drawing the route correctly.

Drag the Map Our maps can be dragged by holding down the left mouse button while moving the mouse.

Changing Your Password You can change your Password at any time by selecting Update Personal Details from the Membership menu.
