The Trimpell 20 aims to be a friendly race organised by runners who are dedicated to delivering a superb event for every type of runner as well as supporting local charities. It is an ideal race before your chosen Marathon.
For those considering running with us for the first time, we promise a warm welcome and a race with fantastic support. It is however a tough distance and despite some breath taking views along the Lune Valley we recommend some serious training beforehand.
Regardless if you are an elite runner with prize winning ambitions, chasing a new personal best time, or one of the many unsung heroes for whom a marathon is the ultimate challenge and this is your preparation, we promise you a race that is tailored specifically for you that you will not forget in a while!!
Starting at the home of Lancaster & Morecambe AC the course heads towards Morecambe along the cycle path, running around trimpell triangle before heading back towards the historic city of Lancaster with the Lancaster Castle, Lancaster Priory and the Ashton Memorial in view. The course then heads over the Millennium Bridge and down the Quayside, looping behind Lancaster City FC's ground the 'Giant Axe' before following the cycle path away from the city and towards Caton taking in the Lune Valley views alongside the River Lune. You will then cross the Crook of Lune, and passing Halton the course makes a turn at Bullbeck at the very tip of Caton and loops back following the course back towards Lancaster, where oncoming runners are able to give each other support before heading back towards Salt Ayre and finishing on the athletics track.
