Burton in Kendal 10k
Date / Time
Length
6.21 miles (10.0 km)
Description
The Burton in Kendal 10k and Fun run is an open road route, starting from the top of Morewood drive, next to Burton Morewood School at 11am on Sunday 14th September – the Fun Runners starting from the school Yard at 11.15am. After a flat run south through the village, the course turns East and climbs steeply after the first three Kilometres before descending through a quiet forested road, passing through the hamlet of Dalton and the first water stop, and then descending once again to the main road through the village. The route then continues west across the M6 motorway and then follows an undulating route south, passing the second water stop, before turning east and climbing once more back to the village. The final leg of the 10k is a flat sprint north, back through the village to the finish line at the school. The Fun-Run follows the 10k for the first few kilometres, but is somewhat less hilly. The course is well marshalled and signed and there are first responders, first aiders and a UKA referee present. Refreshments are also available. Medals are awarded for all finishers and trophies for category winners. There will also be spot prizes and a raffle. Runners can shower and change at the recreational trust facilities in the village and there are toilets and car-parking in the village hall, across from the school.
