The Wirral Half Marathon and 10K event was introduced to the BTR portfolio in 2013 with most of the course having been previously used in part in the Liverpool Marathon and Mersey Tunnel 10k events.

The course is point to point in format for both the half marathon and 10K distances.

The start (for both races) is at Birkenhead Park and the finish is at Coastal Drive, New Brighton.

The first six miles is the same for both races at which point half marathon runners continue on through New Brighton and onto the coastal promenade for another 3.5 miles before turning back, whilst the 10K contingent finish their race on Coastal Drive.

The event attracted 2,500 participants in the first year and that figure is expected to grow given the success of the 2013 event.
