Hi there

I get pain in the back of my heels at the beginning of my run especially when the first part of my run involves a hill but it seems to get better, does this sound like the beginning of the same problem as Alison or what I can do to stop it????

Hi Alison,

I had the same  problem early last year i kept getting pain in the achillies, i would rest for 3 or 4 days then run but the next day in would hurt again. So decided to rest for 10 days and that seemed to cure it. I think all you can do is rest it. Now if i run over 5 miles i will stand with both feet in a bucket of cold water for 10 mins. (wife says i look like a right plank) Make sure the bucket is large enough to cover just below your knees. Apparently its something to do with taking the warm blood away from the muscles but it really dores work, for me. I also spend a good amount of time warming up. Not sure if this helps. When is your race?
