Description

DARTMOOR WAY GRANITE 50

A 50 mile race to compliment the Dartmoor Way Full Circle 100 mile event. The DW Granite 50 skirts the western section of the Moor and crosses several sections of open moorland.

The race begins in Lydford on western flank of the Moor and follows the Dartmoor Way Walking Route, heading South towards Tavistock, South Brent and then onwards to the finish in Ashburton.

The Dartmoor Way 50, is a tough challenge. It’s 51 miles and although just over half the distance of the 100, it’s a serious undertaking. The DW50 is not an easy race at all.. It’s not a walk in the park. It’s a long run in the National Park..! It is the equivalent of running two marathons, over sometimes quite rugged terrain in parts and with over 2000 metres of ascent.

Experience of running trail marathons is a minimum requirement for this event.

Race Start time of 8am on Saturday 14th November from Lydford, the west of the Moor. There is a maximum time allowance of 16 hours.

Over 2000m of ascent with 3 full checkpoints offering hot food/drinks and refreshments.

Changing/shower facilities on site at the River Dart Country Park and also bar and hot meals throughout the weekend.

GPX Files will be available to download, waterproof map with pre-marked route.

Bespoke Technical t-shirt at registration and bespoke Finisher’s medal on completion of the race. Also bespoke trophies to First, Second and Third male and females, plus Age category prizes.
