Race Guide
Forde Abbey 10k
Date / Time
Length
6.21 miles (10.0 km)
Description
2nd year of the 'new' very popular off road 10k. Set in the heart of West Dorset, the Forde Abbey 10k Cross Country was a renowned race that rolls through woodlands, meadows and rivers on the stunning Forde Abbey Estate.
The 10km route includes mud, rocky tracks, hills, big views, more hills and two river crossings near to the end, after some more hills. Few race routes rival this for spectacular rural scenery. What better way is there to spend a summer evening?
If you didn't run it last year and you remember the old route from a few years ago, then you'll find a couple of changes to take account of an unusable woodland part near Hewood. The first river crossing is not so severe. The total length is now 10k - it was somewhat shorter beforehand.
As with all Chard Road Runner events, we won't be doing postal entries - just online here, or enter on the day. Medal for all participants.
Obviously weather dependent but it is great location to bring a picnic to and stay on after the event
A Junior 1500 metres race within the grounds of the park is being held, starting at 18:15. It is open to primary school children and below. There are no lower age limits. Cost is £3 and entries are only on the day. Medal for all participants
Please arrive in plenty of time to pick up your number from Race HQ - numbers will not be sent out.
Please note - much of the route is run on private grounds. Please do not run the route without express permission of all relevant landowners.
