Race Guide
Orienteering races @ Black Park Country Park

Date / Time
Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
Length 3.11 miles (5.0 km)

Wild running! Try a series of Saturday morning orienteering races around the woods of South Bucks, organised by Thames Valley Orienteering Club:

Kings Wood, Wycombe (22 October);

Black Park Country Park (26 November).

An orienteering race is a staggered start off-trail run with a difference - there is no set route! For an added mental challenge, you must navigate your way around the course, between each checkpoint marked on a map. We use electronic chip timing, and we'll lend you a chip to register at each checkpoint around the woods. Come along any time between 10am and 11.30am and we'll get you started if you've not been orienteering before. Staggered starts (1min apart) are used and you can start a course any time up to midday. Courses close at 1pm. Just £6 entry on the day.

The courses will take you along paths and off-path, so trainers or trail running shoes are ideal. A compass may be handy to bring, but we can always lend you one if needed.

Various courses for runners, and also families and children, up to 5k (however this is a straight line distance measured between the control points and you'll run further!). Email us for more info or check out our website/Facebook page: or

Parking and race registration is at the main public car park at Black Park (don't forget the parking charges).
