Hmmm... Given the heat I'm now planning on playing it safe and not running too far from civilisation, so I won't be bagging lots of the high, remote tors. Tuffs sound annoying, though I reckon the bogs might be dried up by now. I may try out some of the well trodden paths like the Two Moors Way. Thanks for the response.

I'm off on my hols to Dartmoor soon with three generations of family. I'm anticipating that I may need a little time to myself so I'm already planning my runs. Anyone ever run on Dartmoor before? I'm wondering whether to expect to be knee deep in spagnum moss and whether I should brush up on old orienteering skills. Given that its the summer I'm hoping that route/pathfinding will be pretty straightforward but maybe this is naive? Anyone have any knowledge about which areas make for a good run? I'm thinking 6 -10 mile runs. I'm based in Chagford, but could drive to other areas. Ive looked at the GRG suggested runs. Bit of a vague request I know, but maybe someone out there has something to pass on ?
