I have just posted details on the Member News of a project we have been working on over the last few months to redesign the Good Run Guide website.  We are now looking for a small number of volunteers to try it out and give us feedback before we make it available to all members.  If you are interested in doing this and are a Full Member of the site, please take a look at the Member News article, which gives further details of how to get involved.

Thanks to all the people who have volunteered to try out the new wesbite design. We now have enough volunteers for the moment but will extend the trial further once we have resolved any issues raised by the initial user group.

I've just posted an update of the Member News about the new-look site.  We've now addressed most of the issues raised by the GRG Members involved in the beta testing, so have extended out the offer to try out the new site to all Members.  Please check the Member News for further details.

If you have any comments or feedback please feel free to Contact Me direct or post your comments here.

Enjoy the new site!

I am liking the new site and the ability to have a personalised home page, my only criticism is that I find the colours difficult, I am colour blind and it might have something to do with that, in the Forum, I find it difficult to see the difference between the colour of those I have read and those I have not, it is only a little criticism and could be due to my colour blindness

Thanks for the feedback.

The colour difference between the read and unread topics on the Forum Home page is probably a bit too subtle, even without any colour blindess!  I'll see if we can change it to make it easier to distinguish between them.

One other thing to feedback...we are going to add a universal switch to the new site for metric and imperial units - a number of people have suggested this so we are working on it at present.  On the current site there are several metric/imperial switches that you need to set to change your settings from miles to km and the settings are then saved in a cookie on your computer (so only apply on the computer you are using).  On the new site you'll still be able to switch between miles and km in several places but your choice will be saved on the database and used across the whole site and on all computers/devices that you log in to.

We've updated the beta site to simplify the setting of metric and imperial units.  There are now separate switches for distance and weight and when you change your setting it should apply across the whole site. You can set your choice of units on your personal Home Page (at the bottom of the page) but we've also added the switch to a number of other pages so that you don't have to navigate back to the home page just to switch between miles and km.  Hopefully the switching between miles and km should work ok but please let us know if you spot any parts of the site that are not working correctly.

Hi John

Nice look mate :-) I luv the fullscreen route view worth waiting for :-)

On the home page, would it be possible, to switch off the snap to grid, i like things nice and neat with loads of straight edges and i cant line up the display boxes properly..... arrghhh

bit ocd im afraid. just curios if i can have a switch.  Will you still be looking at polar integration at some point?

All the best

Robin

Hi Robin - I don't think it'll be possible to get the boxes to line up horizontally as they are different sizes.  They should all line up vertically though.  We moved away from a fixed size for the boxes as it was impossible to make everthing the same size and also add the ability to customise the page.

Polar integration is definitely still on our To Do list though.  Can I ask what model you have and what data you would like to import?
