Manchester's gonna be my first one too.
I have a handful of half's under my belt, but never ran a full one yet.

Shame you had to pull out of Chester. I know a few people from this site who ran that one and all said it was a toughie.
I've got it pencilled in for this year...but before I commit to doing it I'm gonna see how I cope with Manchester first.

Good luck

Hi Craig

Thanks for the advice - will see how I go.

Yes planing to run Manchester marathon - my first marathon but thought it would be a good one to start with as it is a flat course. I had entered the Chester one last October but had to pull out 3 weeks before due to injury...so hopefully I'll at least make it to the starting line of this one !

Hi Rachel,
I would say that if you were hitting 50 miles a week and you've only missed one week then just pick it back up at week 7.
Your fitness and running abilty wont have diminished from having one week off...infact, quite the opposite. The rest will probably have done your muscles the world of good.
Good luck with it.
Are you running Manchester marathon..?

Hi all

I was 5 weeks into my marathon training programme (for race on 29 April) when I had to take a week out due to chest infection. I was running 50 miles a week before I became ill. How should I get back into it - pick up where I started (ie week 6 of programme) or miss out a week & go straight to week 7 ?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Rachel
