I guess several members use twitter and I'm not sure how easy this would be for the website developers but I was wondering if it's possible to add a "tweet" or "post to twitter" button for workouts (could also be a post to facebook option). Currently I log my runs both on here, because it's great!, and also on http://www.runningfreeonline.com which is not so good and full of adverts! If it could be developed, it would also be a great way to advertise the Good Run Guide because a #goodrunguide hash tag could be attached to each post. It doesn't need to be anything flash just something like "I've just run 3 miles in 00:30:00 at 10 mins/mile and logged it on #goodrunguide"

I've often wished for a post-to-Facebook option as well.  I know that a lot of people don't like it, but as long as it was optional, it would be gret.

Of course, no idea how complicated this is to do!

You can post runs to Facebook direct from your log book.
If you go into your log book, then click "view" from the right hand side near where it says "edit"
Then when the next page opens click "LINK TO THIS ENTRY" from the left hand side. (a box will come up asking if you really wanna do this, click "OK")
Then click LINK TO THIS ENTRY again, then copy the displayed link into your facebook status.
All sounds a bit of hassle but really is simple to do when you get the hang of it.
I dont use twitter so not sure if this method would work as a tweet or not

I'm not sure how posting to Twitter works as I don't use it myself, but the Link to this Entry facility that Craig refers to is the way to share your runs with friends who are not GRG members.  Doing this makes your run public and then you simply need to give them the link.  The link won't work though unless you agree to make the run public when you click on Link to this Entry.

I'll look into whether there is a more direct method of posting/tweeting your runs that we can also implement - thanks for suggesting this.

Thanks for the info on the "link to this entry". It provides a nice summary of the workout. Slightly long winded to post to twitter or facebook but will do the job. If a direct posting button could be developed that would be excellent. Once again, thanks :) Oh, and a Facebook request to join the Good Run group done!

It turned out to be fairly easy to implement a Tweet This button so we've just added that - let me know if there are any problems with it. 

We've also added a separate Post to Facebook button with instructions for sharing your run on Facebook.  The sharing buttons are now only visible after you have made the Log Book entry Public - once you have done this you can then share it via a Link (e.g. in an email), via Facebook and via Twitter.
