Turns out I did get a place after all! I only found out two weeks before the event, when my pack arrived. Managed to get there by adjusting my weekend in York slightly, and had a great time.

As for the distance, and splits, don't believe your Garmins! Remember they are affected by various factors including running under buildings, beside tall buildings, round tight corners, zig-zagging around slower runners who started far forward (grrr!) and atmospheric conditions. If you uploaded the route to GRG you'll no doubt see that you apparently ran diagonally across the stadium rather than round it! See http://www.goodrunguide.co.uk/MeasuringRoutes.asp

The course is accredited by the Association of UK Course Measurers - http://coursemeasurement.org.uk/detail.php?area=South&no=2012052

Great day at the National Lottery Olympic Park Run today. I was wondering if anyone else thought the last KM was about 400m too long, certainly seemed that way according to my splits.

I'm jealous! I missed out, too.

Good luck Phil - you're representing GRG!
