I did the Maas Marathon in Belgium on 08/05/11 with Richard Mintern, it was a small mostly local event with 666 marathon entries plus a half and some shorter runs. Started and finished in Vise which is a small town near Liege, they closed off the town centre for the race and there was plenty of support along the final straight. Most of the race was out in the countryside along the River Meuse with a section over the border in Holland through part of Maastricht. It was a very hot day about 27 degrees by the end I think. Got to halfway in about 1.48 but then slowed down a fair bit in the heat and finished in 3.44.41. It made a nice change from the larger events with no congestion on the route but still a good atmosphere. Travelled there and back on the Eurostar which was quick and easy. We gave blood samples before and twice after the race as part of an experiment into the effects of extreme exercise on various blood indicators, it will be interesting to see the results.

I echo Kate's comments. A great run and interesting for anyone contemplating the Paris Marathon. As for the T shirts ...nice to have one to be able ot run in rather than only useful for washing the car!

I ran Brighton, and things couldn't have gone much better for me. Had a steady first half, and sped up through the second half, with my fastest miles being 17-24. Felt strong throughout, no wall, and finished in 3.51 which is a big improvement on my previous marathon of 4.12 two years ago.

Next target is 3.45, I guess - but I know it'll really stretch me.

Lots of members have run London, Brighton and other spring marathons and some have posted thier results on here or on Facebook (Good Run Wall). Can we ask you all (even if not a regular forum user) to post your result and time and maybe a few comments on this thread so all the results are on one place and maybe we can include a list in the next newsletter?

I'm sure members will be as interested as i am! Perhaps you could mention if and when you hit the dreaded wall and then what happened or maybe your split times.

Over to you!
