Just finished the last race of the Burton and District Summer League and was my 7th 10k race in my first year of racing.

I decided to give it my all and somebody elses if I could to get a new PB which before the race was 42:38 as I was advised this is a good race for PB's, and guess what ........ came in at 42:42 !!!! flippin' typical 5 seconds shy of a new PB.

Next time I'll try for a 6:45 average pace as opposed to a 6:50 which I thought might have got it. I'll try again in three weeks time where I have the Lichfield 10k.

Thanks Martin,

I could over analyse the reasons from not able to carry out structured training due to a three day residential course on that week with plenty to eat and drink and the consequental 2lb in weight I put on as a result through to how I run the race. But at the end of the day I am happy that I can run at that pace after only 16 months of running and at the age of 50.

Bring on Lichfield...... I'll be ready.
