Hi Jonathan,

Hard to say really, it depends on the fit. For example my Asics 1150 seemed good to go from the start (but have worn out after 400 miles), wheareas my Nike Pegasus took around 80 miles before they felt 'broke in' and properly stretched to my feet.

Yes check it out Helen, I think the omni's I saw were about 30-40 quid! Incredible! Let me know how you get on, I'd be interested to know if it''s country wide or specific to my local branch (Walsall). Also does anyone know anything about the AVIA brand, the shoes look good but not sure of them?

Hi folks

as a newbie to running and this site, I don't profess to know a great deal about the technology behind shoes. However I did a bit of searching and reading before I bought. I own a pair of Saucony Grid Ignition which have been great so far and will run their first 10k race on the 26th Sept. My main reason for posting is to say where I bought them.... TK MAXX!! I managed to get them for 29.99 about 15 quid or so off prices I have seen online. I have been back to the store since and seen more Sauconys, Omni 8 etc, New Balance, some AVIA and the odd pair of nike and Adidas. I think if you know the type of shoe your running style requires, and know the difference when looking at shoes, some real bargains can be had!!! Let me know your thoughts folks! God Bless

Adrian

After many, many months and over 1000 miles running (that's just for this year) I am managing to sort the chaf from the wheat metaphorically saying, in the trainers that suit me for the different occasions, here is my list to date:

Top trainers for me:

Road Training (the majority of my running) - Asics 1150

Road racing / speedwork   -  Nike Lunarglides

Trackwork  -   Brooks Mach 10 spikes

Under evaluation at the moment are:

Cross Country / Trail  -   Inov8 Talon 212

Road Training  -  Nike Pegasus (to alternate with Asics 1150)

My bad choices were:

Cross Country / Trail  -  Addidas Kanadia (bad blisters when pushed)

Road Training  -  Reebok Verona's (light blistering when pushed)

Finally in memory of:

Road Training  -  Reebok Premier Road Plus, my first pair of trainers that served me well in the early days but now discontinued.

What's your choice of footwear?
