Hi all,
Can anybody shed any light on this...???
While I'm out running my knees feel fine. But when I get home and I go upstairs for a shower, they hurt so much walking up the stairs. The pain generally lasts for  about 24 hours.
This pain has hounded me for over 6 months.
I even had about 6 weeks break from running over the winter period due to the snow and a few other things, and I thought that maybe the break would cure the problem. But no such luck.
I've even tried changing my trainers.
Any ideas ?    Like I said, it doesn't hurt while I'm actually running, just when I put pressure on my knees after the run... and usually lasts about 24 hours then eases off.

Thanks Gillian
Typical isn't it... So many 'professionals' each with their own individual causes and remedies.
Maybe I need to bite the bullet and fork out for the gait analysis.

I have a pair of fell running trainers but like yourself fells aren't really an option where I live unless I drive about 30 mins to the nearest hilly district.

Maybe I need stock up on frozen peas and just persevere.

Good luck with the 10k, you'll have to let me know how you get on.

Gait analysis, custom orthotics and suitable shoes has done wonders for me. Also exercises to strengthen the quads & correct inbalances etc. I'm a typical moderate overpronator and I was getting classic patella mistracking symptons a few years ago. I can't say my knee problems are non-existent but they are much better over the past two or three years, despite considerably upping my mileage.

I'd say I always notice any knee pain/tenderness after running or when sitting etc. - never during a run.
