No problem.  I've added an "Import from FIT File" button to the Log Book page now (click "Add Entry" to see this).  And also to the Upload / Import Data page (under the Training/Log Book menu).  This should give you a couple of quicker options for getting to the Import from FIT file page.

Great - thanks for posting back.

There isn't a direct link to the FIT File Upload tool at the moment (you need to go via the Upload from a Gamrin Device page).  I'll see if we can set up a more direct way of getting there and post back when this is done.

The "ProgramData" folder is hidden by default, so you'll need to unhide it first by following the instructions in the link I posted below.  You should then hopefully be able to see all the sub-folders under this, along with the Garmin data files.

Hi Jon

When I uninstalled express I couldn't use Garmin OR grg. I got exactly the same problem on GRG regardless of Express being installed. Also, I don't have a 'programme data' option on my C drive?

p.s. I am having to reply to this on my phone because I can't post to the forum on my PC. I get the text box to type but can't type anything???

I think if you need to have Garmin Express installed the only way to upload directly to GRG without having to first send data to Garmin Connect is to upload the files from the folder on your computer where the Garmin Express stores them after transferring them from your device.  Garmin Express stores the files in a different place on your computer than the ANT Agent software previously used by wireless devices like the 610, so this is why the Garmin Communicator plugin can't find them after the Garmin Express software is installed.  We're not sure if and when Garmin is going to fix this but it may help to raise the priority of the problem within Garmin if you log an issue with Garmin Support to say that the Garmin Communicator plugin no longer finds your data after installing Garmin Express.

In the meantime, if you have Garmin Express installed, it should save copies of the data files in the following folder:

c:\ProgramData\Garmin\GarminConnect\[device id]\Upload\

where [device id] is the id of your device.  If you can't see this folder you may need to Show Hidden Files and Folders (see this page for more help on this).

For anyone reading this using a Mac, the location for Mac users is:  /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Garmin/GarminConnect/Device Name-Serial Number/Upload/

You should be able to upload your data to GRG from this location using the Import from GPS File option (for TCX files stored under the History folder) or the FIT File Upload tool (for FIT files stored under the Activities folder).

I hope this helps.  It would be good if you could post back with how you get on.

Hi John - yes not changed anything except the watch.

I have now had to re-instal Express because i couldn't upload anything from the garmin, even to garmin connect without it. I have worked out how to manually upload the data onto GRG using the TCX file, but I got the watch specifically to make uploading easier and not more lengthy. I know I could just stick with Garmin Connect but I love GRG.

As I say, GRG recognises the ANT stick, I click 'upload' and  it says it is uploading but nothing happens.

Thanks

Hi Claire - were you previously using a Windows 8 computer to upload from your 305?

Hi- I have just upgraded my Forerunner 305 to a 610 but am unable to upload my run onto GRG.

I have seen previous forum comments about uninstalling Garmin express (which I did) and the possibility of a corrupt recording, but I am on Windows 8 and don't have a 'app data' file to look for?

Basically, I can upload the run to Garmin connect, but when I try to do that on GRG I get an 'uploading data' message and nothing happens. I have manually uploaded this time around using a data file from garmin connect but even then it changed my splits and pace (for the worst).

My main issue though is not being able to upload from my new 610 onto GRG which is my preferred place for storing my run data. I don't want to have to do this manually each time

Any help appreciated- ta
