Hi all,

I'm facing the daunting propsect of running at Parliament Hill on Saturday in the London XC Champs. I'm not sure what to do in terms of footwear. I have some innov-8 Talon 212's which I typically use for cross-country / trail but I am worried that they might not have enough grip on the steep muddy bits. Should I splash out on some XC spikes or go with my trusty innov-8's?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Rod

Hi Rod

I have done XC at Parliament Hill a few times and its always incredibly muddy and definitely worth investing in some spikes.  Best to get some different lengths of the actual spikes as well so you can assess what you need on the day!

I'm with Louise, some spikes are essential at Parliament Hill. I've raced there dozens of times and never have i regretted putting spikes on. 12mm is the lenght i would recommend. 9mm probably too short, 15mm have a slight tendancy to catch in the tussocky (is that a word) grassy bits when you are tired.

Thanks Andy & Louise. I got some spikes but sadly they remained unused as I wasn't able to run in the end. Apparently the Southern Championships are also at Parliament Hill in January so hopefully I will get the chance to try them out then.
