I once ran on the dual carriageway into the outskirts of York from the villages off the A1079, as I was getting short of time - it was getting dark and I had to be somewhere. It was a scary experience, even running on the grass verge, and that's when there was one! Apart from the speeding traffic and huge wagons, there was all sorts of gubbins in the grass just waiting to grab my feet - plastic sacks, bits of metal, shredded lorry tyres, animal carcases - you name it! |

Nice Dave, hedgehog slippers just what I want. Know what you mean though, I tend to do verge running in the winter and last winter I tripped over twice on a bramble branch and stubbed my toe on a buried triangular portable road warning frame, flippin' road contractors. |

That's your Christmas present sorted then, Derek... (I went for the more aerodynamic footwear yesterday and clocked a new 39:13 10k PB at Leeds Abbey Dash) |

Look forward to 'em Dave, sub 40 10k now there's a dream. That figures why you weren't at CHp Saturday. |

I noticed you'd made another step in your comeback. I'll be there for the next few weeks, though volunteering on 3rd. |

By the way, returning to subject briefly, I'm pretty sure the only roads runners (i.e. pedestrians) are NOT allowed on are motorways (and motorway slip roads). |
