Hi, whilst running in the Ipswich Half Marathon on Sunday just before the 10 mile point I pulled/strained my hamstring. I was going up hill and I had ben feeling a bit of a strain in my hamstring when all of a sudden I felt it pull. Felt a bit like a knot being pulled up the back of my leg. Unable to run it off and had to walk back to the finish. Gutted ! A physio took a look at my leg and reckoned it was a strain and to rest it. I have been able to walk on it without any pain. Just have a dull ache. I have iced it and tried some gentle stretches. My big question is - Am I likely to be fit enough after straining my hamstring to run the Beachy Head Marathon on Sat 22 Oct 11? |

Only you will know the answer to that one Portman. If you strained your h/s going up hill on a HM, ask yourself this: How many hills are there on the Beachy Head marathon and can I realistically cover twice the distance after a h/s injury within the last month? I would ask if you can carry your place forward to next year - at least you will not lose your fee and you'll know your options. I wish you well but be cautious.... |
