Hi all As the number of Park Runs has expanded considerably, we are planning to add a new section the race listings which will include regular time trials such as the Park Runs. We would also like to include the race routes when possible, so if you have the route for any of the Park Runs, it would be great if you can either share this via the shared race routes section - under routes and races menu - or send me the route direct. We already have Richmond and Bushy Park. Also, if you know of any other regular events that should be included, i.e. once a amonth or more, then please let me know. Thank you Louise

Official time 31:49, which I am really happy with. Going to do another in three weeks, once I have finished my run/walk scheme, and see if I can improve on that! |

First 5K completed! Weather was ideal, nice and cool and the rain held off. Lots of runners, and a good mix of abilities. Black Park is a beautiful pine forest, so really nice surroundings and good soft track for running on. Not got my official time yet, but both my heart monitor and nike plus (I am a geek for stats!) put me at around 32 minutes, which I am well pleased with! Even better than the time though is the fact that I managd to go more than 3.5 K without walking, and even then only needed to walk for about 30 seconds before picking up my heels again - so I ran much further and faster than I ever have in training :o) I had so much fun, this is very likely to become a regular part of my weekend! My lovely wife has just made me some crumpets drizzled with honey, so I'm off to wolf them down! |

Thanks for the support, and well done on your first 5K Martin! I will definitely be starting near the back, and will try to keep my pace down to something sensible. I must admit I am really looking forward to it! :o) I'll let you know how I get on!

I will be doing my first 5K this Saturday morning at the Black Park ParkRun - as it is the "Run Free" event I think there should be plenty of newbies like me around! I'm on week 6 of the 8 week run/walk scheme now, and should be up to running 15 mins /walking 1 min this week. Based on the pace in my training runs, if I take it steady I should be good to finish in about 35 minutes which I will be happy with. Wish me luck! :o) |

I might well do that- I did a 5K walk over the weekend, quite hilly but it took less than an hour so I might not do too badly if I add in some running! :o) |

Hi, I am just starting out (start a Run/Walk scheme tomorrow, so absolute beginner!), and have planned a 5K parkrun as a goal in about 12 weeks time when I should be able to run for 30 mins non-stop.
Reading your post, I'm now wondering if I should consider doing one sooner, while I am still doing the run/walk scheme? Cheers, Ian
