Hi Dave, and anyone else interested in the leagues.

Since we are on the subject i'll go on about how the leagues work... The main league (age graded) gives a level playing field over ages/ gradient/ and distance for your best race in the last 3 months. Here you are 10th, being the same age as you (nearly) I ran slower on what must have been a hillier course so am ahead in that table. However as my pace was slower in that race i am behind your fantastic 8th place in the Fastest Runner table which is all about speed and nothing else.

Finally in the Best Race Performance you are 'only' 18th as 17 members have run faster age grades since the member leagues were started nearly two years ago....

Hope that all makes sense.

Thanks Andy! I just noticed I've been a member long enough to make an appearance on the 'Most Improved' table, too!

It seems a bit wierd that I'm 10th fastest overall, but 18th age-graded - at 51. There must be some quick oldies on here!

I'll be having a go at my 5 and 10 Mile PBs over the winter, see if I can bring them more in line with my 5 & 10 km times...

That's correct Dave the distances are all compared to the 10k as its the most popular and easy to relate to race distance. Of course you can easily see how a particular 10k time relates to other distances using, for example, the predict a race time calculator under the Races sub menu.

I didn't know about the ladies being changed but am not suprised, they get downgraded every few years as the world records get lowered. Ranelagh's (blowing my own club trumpet TRA DA!) Ed Whitlock beat his own over 80 marathon world record with an amazing 3:15 clocking recently achieving an age grade of 102% plus so that's obviously going to require a revision of the tables at some stage.

We at GRG haven't included the over 32 ladies changes but at some stage we'll have to move to the upgraded tables but we are talking small amounts of change...and then everyone will complain they've run a 5 seconds pb and got a worse age grade!

And finally nice top 10 effort Dave :)

I think the idea is that it's a way of comparing performances over all distances - I assume 10k was picked as it's convenient and the most popular, and therefore easiest for all to relate to.

I'd actually forgotten about these tables, but it seems I've risen to the lofty heights of the top ten!

I heard, Andy et al, that the WAVA grades for ladies over 32 (I think) have been 'adjusted' downwards. Do you know if this is correct, and has it been reflected on GRG?
