Hi Andy/Louise, just a quick query regarding multi part runs I already have a measured route and the first part say 1 mile and the last part again say 1 mile of a 6 mile route in total is run at easy pace.

The middle bit which is 4 mile is tempo but I am unable to log them under multi part run as separate elements of the whole route as it is greyed out and I don't really wish to create 3 different sub routes.

Is it possible to either put something in that can split an existing route or mark it in some way as currently I can only record my tempo run as 6 miles when in reality I only run 4 at tempo speed.

Hi Derek Sorry but there is no way of doing this other than logging as a multi-part run with 3 separate routes. But, if its any help, you don't actually have to log it to a particular saved route as you can enter the distance and give it any name you want (not attached to a route). The multi-part function is quite complicated and we don't really want to complicate it any further. Louise

I have the same problem and usually get around it by warming up and cooling down separate to the measured course where i do the tempo. If enough people wanted this feature i'm sure webmaster John could be persuaded to put it on his 'to be investigated as to feasibliity' list :).

Hi Derek - you could post the three sections as laps/splits within the one run if that helps.

That's true Jonathon but for us anoracky types we want an exact measure of the amount of tempo/steady/easy running we did when looking at the stats which does make it extremely complicated as we have to allow you to input type of run for each split and time consuming to enter the run.

At present unless we have a load of members wanting a change we'll leave it in its simpler form.

Andy,

I would appreciate the modification to the system, as when I train with my running club we always start with a 1-2 mile warm up before any hill/interval/tempo training.

Thanks all,

Just a minute let's get me anarak on...... thats better.. oooh a whisper bar in the pocket.

Anyway I have tried all methods, with the 3 separate run thing it increases my route lists substantially (I currently have well over 100 routes including one off races and growing) so this could potentially multiply by three or more.

I did just put the mileage in as a multi run but as it cannot be attached to a mapped route it does not calculate age grading for obvious reasons of terrain, etc.

The lap/split thing over the route averages the stats across the whole run so I could be going hell for leather (like early this morning when I saw a couple of shiny eyes peering at me from a country hedgerow) and then slow down (again when the screaming in my head subsided after the aforesaid event).

But I can appreciate that like all applications there is a limit to what they can do and as we get into the fine detail some things are impossible, improbable or too costly, and it currently does 95% of what I need it to.

Now where's that Whisper bar?

Hi folks,

I've kind of shied away from recording multi-part runs as it seemed a bit complicated, but like my mate Derek I can be a bit of an anorak, so have decided to take the plunge. As a result, I have two linked questions for you:

Firstly, I'm struggling to upload a multi-part run from a Garmin FR110.
If I use 'Import from FIT File' there's no Multi-part option, and if I use 'Log a Run' then there's an 'Upload from Garmin' button but it doesn't support the FR110 (or, presumably, the FR610). Is there a way to do this?

Secondly, and the reverse really of Derek's problem with splitting an activity, is there any way to merge two or more activities (into a Multi-Part run) after they've been uploaded from seperate recordings?

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks John,

I think I just need to learn how to use the system, and to use my watch as appropriate!
