I have been having issues uploading data from my Garmin recently.  The website hangs half way through the upload.  Getting really frustrated having spent the last 30 minutes trying to load this mornings run. Anyone else have this problem or is it just me!

Ive had this issue as well for ages and so has my sister. We both have different garmin watches and different fixes.

I have tried many different approaches. Now I use a combination that appears to work for me although I really have no idea why. I now dont keep many runs on the watch so its pretty much only the one Ive just done. I also give my PC time to sort its self out. I go off and make a coffee. Previously I used to just turn it on and try to download as quick as I could.

These actions limit the number of times it hangs. Usually its now fine but not always. It kept telling me the driver had failed to start so I guess its probably me rushing the PC when it was still trying to do multiple start up jobs. (thats a complete amatuer guess)

Previously it regularly hung half way through the upload. Some times just once and sometimes 10 or 20 times.

This works for me now but not always. The more runs I leave on the watch the more likely it appears to be but that might just be coincidence.

If you get the definitive IT answer from someone clever let me know as its proper annoying.

My Garmin 620 allows wireless data uploads and that works with Garmin site but for uploading to GRG I need to use the wired approach. Is wireless possible and if so are there any instructions on how to da that?

Hi. I've sudenly started having problems uploading from my Gamin 205. Never had difficulties before. I keep getting the error message that the Garmin Communicator is not installed. I've downloaded and installed it 3 times today but to no avail. Are Garmin playing silly buggers?

The old turn it off and on again strategy! Surely you work in I.T. Anthony :-) Yep, I did try that but no change. I suspect the problem will disappear as mysteriously as it appeared.

Hi John. I've been using Chrome but just tried Safari and there was no problem. The plugin is allowed in my Chrome settings but it still says it's not installed...no matter how many times I install it! The Garmin Communicator download page also says the plugin isn't installed and prompts me to download it even though I've just done it. I'm finding Chrome gets more twitchy everyday. I guess I'll stick to Safari for a while. 

Tried that John but still no joy. Garmin Communicator is not being saved in Chrome. As I said, no problem with Safari.

I use a mac John. I've reinstalled the Communicator several times but when I look in Chrome's plugins it isn't there. Works fine on Safari though.

I've just changed my watch to a garmin 620.  It has wireless upoad - will this work to this site or just to garmins site? I've just tried uploading a run adn it's saying no device found?

Thanks.  I dd manage to upload it using option c, as option b didn't seem to work, I couldn't find any files on my computer anywhere.  Not the easiest though, as it wasn't really very obvious which tcx file I wanted to choose.. Other thing I noticed was that once I had found the file to upload it didn't find the route from my saved routes so I had to search for it, also a lot of the additional data that's recorded doesn't show up.  Is this because it's not supported by the site, or when you upload in this way does it not transfer all the data across?
