Couldn't help the suspense Lisa, had to look you up and well done on the time, you must have been on Dave shoulder most of the way.

Come on then Lisa, don't keep us in suspense - how did it go? |

Good luck Lisa. I'm sure you're doing it already, but make sure you're properly stretching your calves from every possible angle. It seems (touch wood) to have banished my troublesome tendon. |

I'd run on Sunday - but I wouldn't recommend it to others! If you do run, don't push it, be aware of any pain and be prepared to pull out if need be - there's always another race. Good luck! |

Hi Lisa, I've had an achilles problem for the last six months and have a slight lump on the back part just where the top of the trainer touches, the discomfort is also along the sides. I have been to a physio for a sports massage and the achilles massage is probably one of the most painful elements of that massage as he needs to break down the scar tissue and to promote the blood flow that accumulates around the tendon. Two things that have helped me, one is the use of an AirCast product which massages the achilles whilst you walk, and secondly (and probably unfortunately) my back went a couple of weeks ago and I have had to stop running completely, as a consequence the lump is reducing in size and I have no more discomfort. Obviously the second part is something you wouldn't want but if I was you I would look at physio and the AirCast product. P.S. I also used RICE which did help slightly but not as much as the above probably cos I was still doing over 50 miles per week for 6 days each week. |

Lisa You might want to add Ibuprufen to the list of remedies as this will help control any swelling. Otherwise, I have used Volteral which has a light anaesthetic effect and the gel is like giving yourself a massage as you rub it in. BEWARE though - not to be used with IBUPRUFEN so one or the other!!! Good luck... |
