OVERVIEW

At the start is a picturesque Grade II listed wooden toll bridge, run by a mother and son, which spans the Mawddach river, was built in 1879 by the Pernmaenpool Bridge Company to replace a ferry across the river.

We have classed this Route as Very Easy Toilets near Start Suitable for cycling

That is interesting, its a great bridge to run across and the estuary is nice as well!

The "Toll" has not operated on the bridge for a couple of years now so access to and from Barmouth is currently free. As far as I am aware there are no plans to reintroduce toll charging.

This is a great route to run, with easy free parking at the George Hotel. Avoid the 60p toll bridge fee and customise the distance by turning back at your chosen point - the only thing better than the views on the way out are the views on the way back. Great route for time trials and getting ''back into it''.
