OVERVIEW

Windsor Great Park extends to approx. 14000 acres and is a Royal Park managed by the Crown Commissioners. Virginia Water Lake was dammed and flooded in 1753 and was the largest man-made lake in the British Isles until the creation of the reservoirs. The Copper Horse, a statue of George III on horseback, was erected on Snow Hill by his son, George IV and created by Sir Richard
Westmacott in the years 1824-1830. The
100 foot high Totem Pole was a gift from the
people of Canada to HM The Queen in 1958.
