OVERVIEW As the name suggests Sheepleas was once used to graze sheep belonging to local villagers and land owners along the chalk sides of the North Downs. It is rumoured that Sir Walter Raleigh's Head is buried in a vault under St. Mary's Church (from where the run begins) as well as his son's body (Carew Raleigh who inherited West Horsley Place in 1643) |
