| OVERVIEW Sir Richard Arkwright is often credited as being the father of the industrial revolution. In 1771 he and his partners built the world's first water-powered cotton mill at Cromford, which had water power and skilled labour.He lived at Rock House in Cromford, opposite his original mill. |
