Race Guide
Surrey Hills Challenge - The Half
Date / Time
Length
13.10 miles (21.1 km)
Description
The Surrey Hills Half route is designed for those that want to test their stamina and strength, but are not ready for the Ultra. The 21km route starts at The Duke of Kent School, in Ewhurst at 9am. The Half route joins the Ultra, following the Greensand Way, which originates in the heart of Haslemere. Along the 21km route will be two aid stations, one after 6km and the other at roughly 16km, offering a full range of varying food, snacks and drinks: flat coke, water, sandwiches, crisps, ice cream, fruit and tea. Just after the start you will join the runners completing the 5km loop around Hurtwood. The Greensand Way follows scenic trails that cut across fields, up and down the hills, through hamlets, along ridgeways and woodlands, over, Holmbury Hill, Leith Hill (highest summit in South England), and finally descending into Dorking. There’s so much to look at and so many variations in terrain that you’ll never lack conversation topics between yourself and your fellow athletes! You’ll finish at the Priory School, Dorking.
