Description
Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon
The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon was launched in 2013 and has proved enormously popular, quickly establishing itself as a flagship event on the county’s sporting calendar. Thousands of runners will head to York on Sunday October 9th 2016 and places are always at a premium – the marathon sold out within days in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The largely flat and fast route starts and finishes at the University of York. Its 26.2 miles take in the historic heart of York along with attractive North Yorkshire country lanes and villages. The scenic course, great entertainment and large, enthusiastic support all combine to make the marathon a “must do” event.
It forms part of the lasting legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE who raised almost £2m for charity through a series of endurance challenges, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
