Race Guide
Maverick Original Herefordshire Trail run
Date / Time
Length
4.97 miles (8.0 km)
Description
New for 2016 and it's a belter! Leaving from Flanesford Priory, a 14th Century Augustinian priory, you're straight into the epic Wye Valley. From there you cut and weave your way through the limestone gorges and dense ravine woodlands heading towards Symonds Yat. It's here you'll really start to get your sweat on as the contours get pretty tight on the map.
The Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can tell we really enjoy running in these areas as this will be the 5th Maverick route that takes in an AONB! Goodrich Castle, one of the finest and best preserved of all English medieval castles stands in open countryside above the River Wye. Boasting a fascinating history you will see this amazing castle from the top of your final climb at Copper Hill. Take this time to soak up the view and think back to medieval times.
The short route is a fairly gentle affair until the last few km back over Copper Hill, with the Middle and Long pushing further towards Symonds Yat.
As with all Maverick events you can expect up to 3 on-course hydration and nutrition outposts provided by OTE, along with finisher T-shirts and medals for all competitors. There will also be prizes for the winners of each distance male and female.
