The Stamford Striders' St Valentine 30K Race is the flagship event organised by the Club. It is run each year on the Sunday closest to St Valentine's Day, 14 February. It is recognised nationally as a tough event, providing a good training run for those planning a spring marathon.
2016 will be the race’s 23rd year and it is always very popular – famous for the enthusiastic marshals and efficient organisation across the board. This is a runners race, run for runners by runners – we know what you want and how you want it.
Starting and finishing at the Queen Eleanor School in Stamford the course winds its way through Little Casterton, Tolethorpe, Ryhall, Careby, Pickworth and Great Casterton on a challenging rural undulating route (yes there are a few modest hills !)
What better way can there be to show your love than to run 18 miles through Lincs and Rutland on a freezing cold Feb morning! Finally, everyone taking part gets a generous goody bag with an event T-shirt and a packet of now legendary love hearts.
This is a very popular race - it has worked its way up to 9th in the Runners World list of 100 Top UK Races from feedback from entrants and the limit of 750 runners is always reached. We don’t have any entries on the day so keep an eye on our website and grab your place as soon as we open our on-line entry system.
