Poppy Half Marathon

Date / Time
Saturday, November 9, 2019
Length 13.10 miles (21.1 km)
Description

Event details

Our flagship event that was established in 2007 – we gather together in a mark of respect during remembrance weekend and there’s nothing more impactful than seeing everyone running along the Bexhill’s seafront in mass. We include a two minutes silence and the event is branded in Poppies in respect to those who lost their lives during war – lest we forget.  All proceeds raised also go to charity so please give generously… why not buy one of our fantastic rucksacks or t-shirts! During the 13 miles you’ll pass the iconic De La Warr Pavilion plenty of times (incl the start and finish), so spectators get great access to cheering you on and offering support. There’s the option to run with our ‘Army Bergen Team’ too – a challenge introduced and organised by one of our trustees Dean Baker… Its tough with a Bergen weighing in around 40-50lb, I ran it in 2016 with this pack and all I can say is “THAT’S HARD!”

Each race will aim to start prompt so please ensure you are registered and near the start line. Please note races are for runners only, all courses are laps on the promenade.  Unfortunately due to the numbers of runners and course format it is not suitable for wheelchairs, buggies or runners with dogs. You are not required to bring anything to registration, just know your surname! Bags etc can be left in the designated bag drop area.
