This year’s races will be on Sunday 25th September starting at 10.00 am. It is the 34th running of the event. During that time it has been recognised as being extremely well organised and won a Runners World award in 2012 and in February 2016 Runners World Magazine voted us the fourteenth best half marathon in the country. With up to 1,500 entrants the races are run on closed roads through the beautiful Sussex countryside, passing through the historic Christ’s Hospital school.
In addition the race offers
· Medal and goody bag for each finisher
· Post race food on the Green (including a hog roast and fish and chips)
· Chip Timing
· Race music with bands at the start and finish and along the route
· Secure baggage storage and free parking
· Ample water stations
· Distance markers, marshals and of course the support of all the locals and spectators
· Pre race warm up
· Pacers for the Half Marathon
For those not running there will be various stalls including food and drink outlets on the Village Green which is the start/finish area. There will also be a Fun Fair and Bouncy Castle to keep your children entertained during the race.
Our nominated charity is St Catherines Hospice for which we hope you will help us to raise funds. Runners have already directly donated over £1,300 when they made their entries! We provide free car parking and a race programme and we would appreciate a donation to St Catherines Hospice via our bucket collection which the Barns Green Half Marathon Committee will match.
