Race Guide
Severn Bridge Half Marathon
Date / Time
Length
13.10 miles (21.1 km)
Description
Race Details - Sunday 28th August 2016. 9:00am
The Severn Bridge Half Marathon returns after two very successful and highly acclaimed events in 2014 and 2015. The race was voted BEST NEW RACE in the Runners World Personal Best awards.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the bridge opening in 1966 so expect a big party!
We will be making some small changes this year to make the experience even better (in particular, systems to ensure access to and egress from the car parks with the minimum of hassle).
The event starts on the Western (Chepstow) end of the Severn Bridge on the motorway itself and after crossing the bridge and back finishes in the event HQ below J2 of the M48, right next to the car park. The event HQ is on a pleasant grassy area overlooking the bridge enabling us to erect all the marquess needed for registration, changing, baggage etc.
The route suits both first timers and experienced club runners - it provides something a bit different from your average 'run-of-the-mill' city half marathon: stunning views, sea air, scenic country lanes and villages and the opportunity to participate in a unique running event on a closed motorway and across the iconic Severn Bridge.
