Hayley,
Indian Queens half is sometime early August. I know its a fair wait but you could pencil it into your diary.
I'm considering this one myself as I'll be in St. Ives around that time on my jollies.

Might start the "Mad Mother's Running Marathon" group/race.

Hi Hayley, I have just been on the RunningBug website. There are no half marathons at all in Cornwall for the forseeable future! There are a few coming up though in Devon and Dorset. they are still a hell of a trek for you though. Kingsbridge in Devon has a trail half on 18 Feb (103 miles from Lands End), Exmoor has a trail half on 14th April (138 miles from you). These are both set up by EnduranceLife. Dorset has a trail half in Weymouth on the 3rd December (179 miles from you) and on the 5th Feb Blackmore Vale has a road half marathon (188 miles from you). Maybe you could start one up?? Hope this is of some help...

I live nr Land's End, so anything is really a bit of a trek. Especially as I have 3 young children.

Hayley, where do you live? Have you looked on the Southern Running Guide? They list loads of races. If you are down south, in spring there is Brighton Half in Feb, Fleet or Reading in March and if you are ready to do a nice flat one (or so I am told) then there is Gosport in November. I quite agree, its a fab feeling when everyone starts feeling rubbish at mile 9 to start over taking people. Well done, bet you are still smiling!

The best bit? Powering past those on their last legs and struggling to finish. Yep made me smile and am searching for the next race. I can see why people find it totally addictive!

Well done Hayley! Your time is most definitely secondary to how you felt at the end of it. After my first half I wanted to curl up and die. :-) The fact that you didn't can only be a good thing. Book the next one in now!

Kate - I think there's definite potential for you to have a nickname on here. Something that is a play on your surname but also subtly implies that you like to "grind" your opponents into the dirt? "Grinder Groundsell" or "The Grounder Pounder" or something.

It needs work. :-)

Eden HM (hilly!) completed on Sunday, with a sub 2:20 not sure how to gage this as it was my first ever race but totally enjoyed it!
