Yeah, happy enough with my time considering the temperature. Results were posted same day.

As for the poor chap that died - bear in mind I was raising sponsorship for the Matthew Good Foundation in memory of the guy who died on the Humber Bridge HM, on what would have been his 32nd birthday, and spent much of the weekend in the company of Matthew's widow Isobel and family... I hope she hasn't heard this particular piece of news.

Decent time too Dave, results for Bristol are up. Pity about the chap that collapsed and died today at the event.

Just did Bristol HM. I had a nice meal afterwards at the Avon Gorge Hotel (fab view at the back) rounded off with a sticky toffee pud.

On the run I only had 2 gels & water, though jelly babies were on offer!

i am more of a jam roly poly man myself always good to give yourself a treat for when you finish I find that half way round it really helps thinking of my treat when I have got in, I am sure there are far healthier (but less delicious) post race food but hey if we have done the miles then rewards are a must

I was only kidding, Mike - I entirely agree about masking the pain being ultimately unhelpful. I don't like taking painkillers even for headaches.

I do have a favourite performance-related post-race reward - treacle sponge pudding with custard! I have one ready for if I do well at Bristol on Sunday.

Dave

I do take Ibuprufen but after a run and at night if necessary or on a rest day.

I don't take any before a run because I find it can affect my breathing and also I don't think it is "healthy" to mask an injury it that way. If it hurts without the drug and I can tolerate it - I carry on, but if it hurt through a "dulled down" sensation, then I might be making it worse and that means a longer recovery.

Not being preachy about this - just using Ibuprufen in a sensible way. BTW as I type this I've got my thigh sitting on top of a nice ice pack!

My favourite treat is a run with no pain!

I was wondering what is the treat of choice while running?

For the first time today I raided the kids sweet jar before going out for a run and plumped for a few cola bottles in my pocket.

mmmmm!!!!!!
