PS Both...

Join the Good Run Wall on facebook... its a group set up by runners from here, and is a great source of motivation support and general banter!

See you there!

Hi Douglas AND Elly

your starts both sound so positive well done. Reminds me of when I started just last July! Def start slowly and build up steadily. Don't increase your distance by more than 10% each week. It'll build strength and prevent injuries better than you realise. Set small goals and reward yourself when you do them. Mainly enjoy it! It's changed my life for the better and anything is better than nothing at all!

Good Luck

Adrian Perks

Sounds cool, prob best to start off gradually and build it up, should stop a lot of injuries from occuring. I totally hear where you're coming from about sitting on ya backside all day. Before I started, I got up, sat on my couch, sat in my car and drove to work, sat down at work all day, sat back in my car and drove home, then did a double shift of sitting on my arse when I got home.  :(

It was devised ages ago by this guy called Josh Clark to get his mother running ... and starts you off really gently alternating running and walking in longer and longer bursts. Ideal for someone who hasn't done any running in a long time and spends too much of their work life sat on their arse in front of a computer. I've just finished week 1 of 9 and feeling pretty positive about moving up a gear.

Another newbie saying hi to newbie! I've just started running again for the first time in a decade and am following the C25k plan using an iPhone app ... enjoying it so far!

Cheers Guys, appreciate the comments. Will pop along to a running club for sure (I miss the team banter if I'm honest) is Fartlek training something that's worthwhile building into the weekly routine? would really like to increase my max heart rate a little. Current resting and max are 55 bpm and 182 bpm. According to the heart rate guide on grg I'm an athlete hehe !! really don't feel like it when I'm plodding along at 11 min miles
