Yesterday I did my first triathlon after being mainly a runner for the past few years. I wanted to feel the fear factor again for the great unknown and it was well worth it! And what a buzz I got (and a bit big headed!!) from being able to overtake lots of men on the run section. Well worth giving it a go! |

Well done Kate. I have only done a sprint triathlon but as a long term runner it was good to be able to overtake quite a few in the run! Have done a Helly Hensen challenge before as well (cycling, running, canoeing) and doing one again soon - quite fun and as you say worth doing it for the experience - but don't think I will ever be any good as a cyclist - and the prices of some of the bikes are incrediby high! and I'm not enthusiastic enough to fork out that much! |

Thanks Louise. It is a very expensive sport, I agree! I borrowed the bike and wetsuit off my mate. I've just found out that I came 10th woman though out of 45 or more so really pleased with that. I've never quite made it in the top 10 for running races and I've been trying for months! I definetly want to see how much faster I can get with experience (I wasted a minute forgetting my race number and having to run back). How is your racing going? |

thanks Craig. You can do all distances though. A 'sprint' is usually about 750 metre swim but you can do ones of about 200m swim and there were people doing breast stoke. I thought I wasn't a great swimmer but I found it fine. I did do a couple of lake swims in my training though as it takes a bit of time to get used to murky water!! |
