OVERVIEW

A varied circuit of Banbury following part of the Oxford Canal, Salt Way and the 'Banbury Fringe Walk'. The route is pretty well signed as a walking route, but is mostly good running with varied terrain on generally well maintained paths.

Now a sunken footpath the Mineral Railway line formed part of the route serving ironstone quarries in the Wroxton area. It was constructed in 1917 by German prisoners of war to carry the ironstone to the main Great Western Railway line East of the Southam Road. Operations ceased in 1967.
