OVERVIEW This is a short but challenging run. It starts off flat as the proverbial pancake along the canal before turning and joining the High Peak Trail for a lung busting mile long climb. At the top there are some nice views and a bit of flat respite from the climb. A hell for leather road descent into Cromford completes the circuit. Sir Richard Arkwright is often credited as being the father of the industrial revolution. In 1771 he and his partners built the world's first water-powered cotton mill at Cromford, which had water power and skilled labour. He lived at Rock House in Cromford, opposite his original mill. |
