Description

 Sarsen Trail and Neolithic Marathon

Apply before 4th March for early bird discounts.

Join the sarsen Trail and Neolithic Marathon for an experience to treasure. It’s a fun-filled running, walking and biking event, taking you over the wilds of Salisbury Plain between Avebury and Bulford.

We’ve got events and distances for all the family (even the dog!). Choose from a full or half marathon, a 7, 11, 15 or 26 mile walk (depending on how energetic you feel) or two circular rough terrain bike routes of 30km or 50km.

RUN IT Polish up your trainers and get set for the Neolithic Marathon – a multi-terrain, undulating cross country 26 or 13 mile course of moderate severity (up and down a bit) open to runners over 18. The Marathon starts at Avebury, the Half Marathon at Redhorn Hill and both finish at Old Carter Barracks, Bulford.

BIKE IT Starting and finishing at old Carter Barracks, Bulford.  The route takes you across the all-terrain Salisbury plain in one big circle route of approximately 50km or a shorter route of approximately 30km

WALK IT You can stride, stroll or saunter on a historic route through the glorious Wiltshire countryside with a choice of four distances. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Register your dog for a finishing rosette.

We have unique access across Salisbury Plain for this event. This means that, due to the military activities, unexploded ordinance and nesting Curlews, we do not have the detailed route until the week before the event. A map will be available on the day and we ask you to follow the sign-posted route.

The routes are fully stewarded with first aid cover and support vehicles. We provide regular water and toilet stops with refreshments available to purchase along the route at All Cannings, Redhorn Hill and Old Carter Barracks, Bulford.

The route may be muddy in wet weather and dusty and rutted in dry. It can be warm in the sheltered byways and very cold and windy on Salisbury plain. Please be prepared – dress appropriately for the conditions and ensure you are fit enough to take part.

To celebrate your achievement, a medal will be awarded to all those who finish their chosen route. Registered dogs will receive a rosette on the day. Those finishing at Bulford will also receive complementary refreshments.
