St. David's Day 10K
Date / Time
Length
6.21 miles (10.0 km)
Description
The St David's Day Run was first organised in 2003 and was the idea of Mr Huw Lewis MBE.
Mr Lewis wanted to organise an event highlighting the Wales's national holiday and raise money for a local charity. Over the years the event has gone from strength to strength and raised thousands for local charities such as Help a South Wales Child. As the run is run on the weekend closest to St David's Day it always attracts some fantastic costumes and we have now added a prize for the best dressed runner. The run takes in some spectacular views of the capital whilst running around Bute Park.
The run originally was just a 5K and 1K run but in 2009 we added a 10K class after much interest. The run has always been a family day out with entertainment provided by locals.
