After our successful 2015 events, we are thrilled to announce 2 dates for our 2016 Brean Down Challenge:
Sunday 3rd April, 2016 and Sunday 31st July, 2016
These events are Canicross friendly.
There is the option for either a one loop 5k or 2 loop 10k.
Race time: 10am (All runners)
Prices:
10k – £12/£14
5k- £10/£12
*Please note that if you book both events together (in any combination) you will immediately be given £3 off at checkout*
Registration will open at 9am for you to collect race numbers on the day. This will be held inside the house directly opposite the National Trust café.
This multi terrain 10/5k will start from the foot of Brean Down ascending straight into a steep hill to the top. You will then be taken up and over the challenging hills with a gradual descent to the fort where the turnaround point will take you along the adjacent side and back to the finish. The 10k runners will then take on this enduring route for a 2nd time. There will be a half way water/feed station just past the 5k point.
The route will again be marked out with eco – friendly white temporary spray paint arrows on the floor, ensuring that Brean Down is preserved and not damaged in any way.
All runners will receive a medal.
The event will be timed.
The finishers table will be laden with our usual assortment of treats, including fruit, sweets and cakes.
There will be plenty of parking at the two car parks (Charges apply), toilet facilities and there will be lots of scrumptious hot food/snacks and drinks available at the National café, pre and post race.
First Aid, including a 4×4 at the Fort will be in attendance during the event and placed at relevant designated points.
The races will be fully marshalled. We are thrilled that the Weston Sea Cadets will again be on hand at these events to give encouragement and guidance.
