Barns Green Half Marathon
Date / Time
Length
13.10 miles (21.1 km)
Description
This is the 32nd year that the race has been held and is recognised for being extremely well organised and won a Runners World award in 2012.
We will be having a pre race warm up and a band at the start/finish.
The race is run on closed roads through the beautiful Sussex countryside, passing through the historic Christ’s Hospital school, where the school’s famous marching band will be playing.
Along the route there are water stations,
Distance markers, marshals and of course the support of all the locals and spectators.
We provide a medal and goody bag for each finisher, secure baggage storage and free parking.
This year we have chip to chip and gun to chip timing and there is
£250 cash prize for beating the present course record of 1 hour, 4 minutes and 28 seconds.
Prizes are award to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th open male and female
and also 1st and 2nd male and female in the veteran 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60+ categories.
There is also a prize for male and female club teams, 3 to score, based on cumulative time.
The race is organised solely by volunteers and all proceeds are donated back to the local community.
Our pre-race entry fees remain the same as last year - £20 affiliated and £22 unaffiliated. £25 after 7th September. Entries are available on the day subject to availability.
We welcome entries from all classes of runners (though you have to be 17 and over to take part) and hope you can join us for another successful half marathon.
