Speyside Windfarm 12 Mile Run
Date / Time
Length
12.00 miles (19.3 km)
Description
The 12 mile Speyside Windfarm Run is part of the popular Speyside Series.
Its a challenging course that climbs up, and around the Pauls Hill Windfarm, climbing some 1400ft in total, with incredible views from the Cairngorms to the Spey Valley and out to the Moray Firth.
Starting on an access road, the route turns onto a very steep track after about 1/2 a mile, from here the ground underfoot is compacted hardcore. The steep section is fairly short, opening out to a more gentle gradient which contours around the hill and up to the Turbine Field. Once you reach the Turbines the view streches out to the Cairngorms on your left, and the Moray firth to your right. The track winds through the Turbines to the 4.5 mile point, marked by marshals and a water stop. After grabbing a bottle of water, its a 3 mile loop of undulating terrain back to the water stop and your 7.5 mile point. From here you retrace your steps back to finishing line, where you will receive your well deserved medal, more water, and a biscuit or two!
