Brownlee Tri North will take place on Sunday 21st September 2014, and will be hosted by Harewood House near Leeds. Sitting in the heart of Yorkshire, close to where the brothers grew up and now live, Harewood provides not only a stunning setting, but the opportunity for entrants to ride the same roads that the Tour de France will race on earlier in the summer.
The venue will host both sprint and super-sprint triathlon distances for individuals, as well as having ayouth and junior super-sprint challenge, and a sprint relay for teams. Whether you are a seasoned triathlete or taking on your first ever race, there really will be something for everyone. In addition, there will be plenty for spectators and supporters to enjoy, with a full entertainment programme which is set to ensure a fun day out for the whole family.
2012 World Champion and Olympic bronze medallist, Jonny Brownlee said “To be able to bring a triathlon to Yorkshire last year was a dream come true for us, and to be able to return this year with an event set to be even bigger and better is so exciting. Harewood has been a training ground for us for years now, so I have no doubt that it will be a fantastic place to host our Brownlee Tri North.”
Commenting on hosting the event, David Lascelles, Earl of Harewood said: “I’m delighted that Jonny and Alistair Brownlee are coming to Harewood for the Brownlee Tri. People have swum in the lake, run and cycled round the Estate before, but I’d be pretty sure that they’ve never done it as fast as the Brownlees! This is a first for us, but not for them, they’ve trained here for many years. I hope everyone enjoys the day, a great challenge for the competitors and a wonderful way for spectators to enjoy Harewood.”
